This project began with mark-making using ink and unusual objects. After making images with a huge variety of things, I picked the most interesting marks, scanned them into Photoshop, and built words that seemed to match the energy or emotion coming from the mark. One of our compositions had to be a word opposite from the feel of the mark, so I placed the word "austere" in the middle of a very whimsical and not-austere composition.
A rock dipped in ink and rolled across the paper
a teabag dipped in ink and dragged over paper, plus the tiny stars from a magic wand stamp
marks from the bottom of a glass tea bottle dipped in ink and dragged over paper
